Updates the End of my 90 Days of Braids and some Styles I used...

My Results are in... I was able to reach bra strap length... here is pic of my hair before my 90 days.  To see older pictures of my hairs beginnings go to my yahoo groups page at

I was little pass shoulder length in this picture.

These are some products I used though I dont promote product usage but they assist you on this journey.  Any type of Hair Cream and Oil will work... Moisture is the key...

These pictures below are of my hair while I was taking the braids down, it was a knotty mess for real... It took me several days to get out as it takes me about two weeks to Braid.

Below is some styles I wore my hair in, I found a new job and needed to be on interviews so I needed a style that was acceptable at work. I used braids and twist on top and left the braids in the back.

 Braided Bun Style...

Had to go out for to a Concert this was how I wore my hair.

How I wore my hair to work...

One of my deep conditioning days I did this twice a week.

A work day style... last all week too...

same day just a front view...

At the Pool Club relaxing... this was two days after my let down from the braids my hair is a tangle mess too... but you can see it.

Ok... so here is what I did, I basically kept my hair wet every day with spray bottle of water and hair conditioner.  I did a deep condition with the products you see here 2x a week on Wed and Sun of every week without fail.  I clipped my ends once a month, I wrapped my hair in plastic if it was not in a plastic bun every night.  I steam bath on a daily basis but only let it down for 2 days a week.  I kept my ends up unless I was going out and needed to be dressed or something then I wore it down or loose braids.

I slowly removed my tangles day by day, it took me over a week to do this so for like 2 weeks I wore my hair in tangles pulled back.  Currently my hair is braided in larger braids I will post below and I will leave this style for a week.  I will keep large braids like this until September.  I am thinking of starting another Challenge soon though.

Braids all Summer Long "Challenge"

more styles...

Some styles I have used:

I will be doing 90 days of Braids, I will be updating status on styles and how I maintain them from Month to Month.

Before and After Pictures coming soon...

I am now 6 weeks into this Challenge...

Maintaining Moisture is not an issue, I am keeping my ends tucked in and daily moisture with water, cream and oil to seal those ends.  At night I am using plastic to wrap my ends up and silk pillow case as usual because nothing staying tied on my head over night.

I will be updating some new tips in a few weeks with pictures.

Only two more weeks to go

Then my 60 Days of Twist are over, I am not sure how much length I will have and I am planning on leaving them in release mode for a week or two, as I struggle with so many tangles.

This is my hair length before I started my two month Twist Protection mode.  I will update with an after picture soon.

Currently doing a 60 Day Twisty Challenge

My hair is going to be in Twisty's until late January 2016, I have been playing with different looks and styles for weekends but mainly leaving it in tack.  I do not comb my hair, I am using leave in conditioner mixed with grape seed oil, plus using grape seed oil 2x a week when I re moisture.

My hair is tied up all week usually let down on weekends just to give my head a break LOL.

This was Day 1, before I got started with my Twisty's... I use this conditioner as a leave in and I love it.

Below is my finished results of my Twisty's:

I keep my hair in the usual Bun style I created and speak about on my page, plastic wrapped and tucked in, with moisture and oil.

I deep condition every 2 weeks and I actually steam my hair about 5 to 6 times per week because I go to a gym that has a steam bath.

This is a pic of the last time I had pics of a Twisty Style: it is kinda old but you can see how it keeps my hair in tack.

I like this style or I should say my Hair likes this style because it gives me low maintenance and allows my hair to get a lot of air and water daily.  I moisture my hair about 3x per week and water it daily, I usually keep my ends heavily oil and I know most would say its not a good idea but I am strong believer in doing what works.  I will even use Vaseline on my ends if I dont have any oil.

I will update some pictures in a few days hopefully LOL.

Update on my Hair Journey

Currently its freezing outside and I have no intentions on leaving my hair out in this weather.  I am steam bathing everyday at the gym and using braids as a protected style for now.

I posted my products on my fb page you can find me by looking up Arlenie Arlenie and then joining my Hair Group there for pics and updates.

I will be posting more pics here soon.
Its been a while here we are at Oct 2014... my Divorce is behind me finally and I am still moving forward in my life thanks to God and all my Angels and Guides.

Life does go on...

I am still continuing to write my book on Relationships and Abuse and getting free.  I will always support Woman of Abuse.  I have done the best I can with my hair with working 2 jobs for a while and not having all the money for hair supplies.  My go to remedy for low funds and no hair supplies was leaving my hair in braids or twist and leaving it alone.

I took some hair moisturizer and mixed some olive oil with it and some vaseline for my ends and applied that 2x per week to try and hold on to my ends and growth.  I could not afford hair vitamins so I basically drank a lot of water and did not wash my hair weekly.

Here was my routine:

I used a mixture I made at home of leave in hair conditioner and olive oil
I applied vaseline to my ends
I kept my hair in plastic and in a bun, braids or twist at all times and wore it pinned up
I only used conditioner by dove which I bought from the dollar store for a dollar and I added my own oil
I have used this basic routine for the past 2 years when I barely had time for my hair.

Today I am around 12 inches long from my original 8 inches and then my growth of 16 inches at my Niece wedding.  I am getting there inch by inch.
